Committed to DEI inside our company, and across the communities we build in.
At NOVO, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion isn't just the right thing to do, it makes for better projects and better communities. Our approach rests on three pillars.
Community partnerships
We work with local organizations to open equitable, inclusive paths into the trades. Our internship program with Girls Garage gives young women real construction experience and helps close the gender gap in our industry.
Inclusive recruiting
We build recruiting that creates opportunity for everyone, regardless of background, through schools, community programs, and partnerships with organizations that advance diversity and inclusion.
Diverse subcontractors
As a certified Minority Business Enterprise (WRMSDC), we actively bring diverse subcontractors onto our projects, size bid packages so smaller businesses can compete, and give suppliers the support they need to grow.
Sarah Garcia
Sarah leads NOVO's DEI work, monitoring and executing our DEI metrics, reporting goals to our clients, and training our teams. She fosters NOVO's community relationships and manages our push to increase subcontractor diversity.
A veteran of the Bay Area construction market, Sarah recently completed the 350,000 SF renovation of Oakland's historic Uptown Station, along with major science, technology, and corporate interiors projects. She's been an active member of the NOVO for Change committee since its inception, working to make a real impact for nonprofits, after-school programs, and underserved groups.
